The Geotechnical Chamber of Greece, in the context of its institutional role as State Advisor in matters related to the management and protection of our natural resources and the environment, decided to organize a Conference entitled "Forest Fires. Conclusions and Directions. The case of Evros", on Thursday, March 7th, 2024, in Alexandroupolis, at the ASTIR EGNATIA hotel. The event will be celebrated by the professor of the University of Freiburg, Mr. Johan Georg Goldammer.
The conference organized in Alexandroupoli, in the framework of the Coordination Council of Geotechnical Chamber of Greece in the city and aims to highlight the problem of forest fires, in the context of the conclusion elaborated by the competent committee of Geotechnical Chamber of Greece planning, for the prevention and suppression of forest fires and for the restoration of productive potential - forestry and agriculture - in the affected area and in general.
The work of the Conference is structured in two parts: the first part which includes presentations by expert scientists and the second part where a discussion will be held with the participation of representatives of the State, Local Self-Government, the Geotechnical Chamber of Greece and other bodies.
The invited speaker in the thematic section "Wildlife after the fire" is the Professor of our Department, Mr. Birtsas Periklis.
